The final conference of the Blue Cloud pilot project will take place 8th December at The Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi, 155 · Wetstraat, 155, Brussels (Belgium).
This final conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about its main results, achievements, and the road ahead. The conference will gather its key partners and stakeholders to discuss its conclusions but as well the role it can play in evolving a thriving EU digital knowledge system supporting the EU Green Deal, Mission Ocean & the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
BLUE CLOUD PROJECT
Blue Cloud project is a founding pillar of the Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) offering e-infrastructure services and research virtual labs.
DIGITAL TWIN OF THE OCEAN (DTO)
The Digital Twin Ocean is a consistent, high-resolution, multi-dimensional and near real-time virtual representation of the ocean, combining ocean observations, artificial intelligence, advanced modelling operating on high-performance computers and accessible to all. The Digital Twin of the Ocean will build on existing European satellite, in situ and model data provided by Copernicus, EMODnet, and pan-European and national research infrastructures, and at the same time allow for integration of alternative data flows from Internet of Things (IoT), citizens and industry. AGENDA OF THE BLUE CLOUD FINAL CONFERENCE
The conference will be spread in two main topics:
- Blue-Cloud in a nutshell: Results, achievements & lessons learned and
- The road ahead: Blue-Cloud Strategic Roadmap to 2030
Under 2nd topic there will be two roundtables:
- Round Table | Building and bringing a thriving marine Open Science community into EOSC: Opportunities & outstanding challenges
This panel will reflect on the lessons learned from the Blue-Cloud pilot project while bringing the perspective and experiences of other marine projects and initiatives.
- Round Table | Delivering a digital marine knowledge system to support the EU Green Deal & UN Agenda 2030: How can Blue-Cloud further contribute to accelerate progress in the marine domain?
This panel will share the status of key EU initiatives, projects and international programs seeking to advance digital knowledge ecosystems. It will also reflect on how Blue-Cloud’s results in the marine domain could be further support wider policy objectives.
Marina Tonani from Mercator Ocean International will be one of the panellists of the final round table, explaining how the infrastructure of the European digital twin of the ocean will allow the interoperability with BlueCloud and different digital twins of the ocean.
