The Grand Ocean Festival is back for a third edition

Protecting marine biodiversity has become increasingly essential for the planet, and for us. After all, life first appeared in the Ocean 3,9 billion years ago.

The Grand Ocean Festival, which celebrates the very link between this vast blue expanse and humankind, is back for a third edition and three days of marine exploration – on 13-14 September at the Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and on 15 September in Réville (France).

This time again, the festival invites young and old to discover, reflect, participate and act in the preservation of the biodiversity of the Ocean.

Around 40 scientists, historians and sea explorers will animate conferences and debates, bringing participants along to reveal the treasures of the Ocean, and what can be done to protect our coasts. Fun awareness activities are foreseen for children for them to tag along and learn.

The event will host experts and representatives from some of MOi’s key governing bodies, including the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER).
