Mercator Ocean International has been partnering with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), hosting the Secretariat for SDGs and the NGO Sulitest.org to work on the first educational module dedicated to Ocean and SDG14 “Life below Water”. The module has been launched on July 9th during the High Level Political Forum 2021 of the United Nations. By supporting expanded SDG14 knowledge among citizens and particularly the youth, the module is meant to enable individuals to become deeply committed to building a sustainable future and to make informed and effective decisions for Ocean health.
In the frame of the IUCN World Conservation Congress, Pierre Bahurel will intervene in the round table of the session organised by SULITEST.org by September 4th : “Playful, innovative and participative tools to raise awareness and educate people on biodiversity”. He will pay a tribute to the partners having designed the tools and will explain why and how Ocean Literacy is a major priority of Mercator Ocean International.

Sulitest, Mercator Ocean International and UNDESA, created an ocean-focused module about SDG14. The module is now available on the Sulitest platform and can be used with the Awareness Test and as a Quiz module. The mission of this project is to raise awareness about SDG 14 so that we can ALL become Ocean Citizens, that is, become aware of ocean-related issues and take actions to protect this valuable ecosystem!
