GEO series on Earth Observations: Delivering insight for decisions

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) has produced a video series examining the need for Earth Observations for our collective response to the sociatal and evironmental challenges we face as a planet.

Mercator Ocean is honored to have been featured in their segement covering the importance of marine observation and the enormous benefits and potential in the free and open data provided through the Copernicus Marine Service.

This 10 part documentary series explores the value and potential of Earth observations for the benefit of humankind, and highlights the importance of full and open access to Earth observation data, information, and knowledge for humanity as it faces unprecedented social, economic, and environmental challenges.

The series demonstrates how Earth observations help support monitoring and progress towards global policy priorities, including the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris Agreement for Climate Change, and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The documentary showcases innovation in Earth observation technology, products, and services, and demonstrates the possibilities for a future where decisions and actions are informed by coordinated, comprehensive, and sustained Earth observation information and services.
