Monitoring the Ocean from Toulouse: Expertise in Service of the Planet

In a recent France Bleu Occitanie broadcast, aired in September 2024, the focus was on how ocean monitoring is organized from Toulouse, with Mercator Ocean International at the forefront. 

The broadcast highlights the key role of this Toulouse-based organization in tracking and forecasting ocean conditions globally. Through advanced modelling tools and international collaborations, Mercator Ocean International plays a critical role in monitoring the state of the Ocean and providing scientific expertise

Pierre Bahurel, Director General of MOi was interviewed to explain why understanding the Ocean is important for all our health and well-being and MOi’s mission to provide Ocean prediction services and digital tools. 

The European Digital Twin Ocean , mentioned during the broadcast, was also highlighted for its innovative role in integrating this data to simulate and predict future ocean states, contributing to better management of our marine resources in the face of current environmental challenges.
